What is reality capture worth at placement or extension?

Most projects already run reality capture. It earns its place on the build — and at placement, it has counted for nothing, because there has been no efficient way to get that data to the people pricing and overseeing the risk.

This calculator shows what that data could be worth against the delay in start-up (DSU, or ALOP) premium and waiting period. The figures are your own.

The offset

Days off the waiting period that repay the entire capture spend.

repaying the capture spend clear gain still carried alone

How this works

This is not a forecast. Nothing here estimates how many days a continuous record saves — that is the open question, and it is not ours to answer with a number.

What the arithmetic does is turn the question around. Given your sum insured, indemnity period, rate and capture cost, it shows how many days off the waiting period would repay the capture spend outright. Everything beyond that is gain. Everything short of it is still carried alone.

Every figure is worked out in your browser, on your own numbers. You can check all of it.

What the evidence changes

Deployed reality capture systems hold the missing evidence: a continuous, time-stamped account of what was built and when, generated by systems rather than by a party to any potential claim.

Where days are granted against verified data, the exchange runs in both directions. The insurer gets performance data as it happens, evidence to verify a potential claim against, and the visibility to help the insured get back on track.

The insured

Spend already committed to the build comes back as cover. Every day recovered moves a day's value of exposure off the balance sheet and onto the policy.

The broker

A lever at placement or extension that is not price. A discount is capped at the premium; days are capped only by the waiting period itself and are more valuable to the insured.

The underwriter

Days can recognise verifiable progress data without moving premium. In place of monthly self-reporting: sight of performance as it happens, and evidence to verify against.

Every figure is worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you ask us to email it to you — and if you do, we send it and keep no copy. Pikt connects to the technology already running on site and turns its output into one time-stamped view of each project. It is not an insurer, broker or MGA, and gives no insurance advice.
